He was talking about his brother
He said he was a King or something (he might have been lyin’) He said he didn’t know what to do without him
But he still couldn’t go back (that place before, that place)
And he paused for the cause/Now he’s ready for ya/Here’s his son, boy of war/It’s all comin to us/At the altar as he falters keep it steady for us
He said his brother kept talking to him sayin something
Chorus:
Lay your bones by my bones I’m gonna make you holy You shall lay by me
I’m gonna make you holy

Lay your bones by my bones I’m gonna make you holy
Spill that ash on me
I’m gonna make you holy x2
He said he thought his brother still needed him, to do stuff for him in this life
Hands outstretched, painted neck/Now he’s reachin to sow/Eyes of fire, eyes of Zion/Such a pain to outgrow/Never recovered from his brother who was slain at the crossroads/And he cried out at the altar of the Lord
I cried, I cried, knelt down in silence
Chorus
I have the last couple of albums. They are great, but this one just smashes it. Dark, hard, but has such great flow. It really balances everything so well across the album. a fav listen. Imnotevans
